Hello there everybody! Just another fun project I wanted to share you you all. I found a deal that I couldn't pass up this week...
Here it is being loaded into our truck: It's an American Security safe! It weighs more than 500lbs, and is fire rated for 2 hours.
So she's a little rough cosmetically. Surface rust inside and out.
A little work with a wire brush and my drill knocked off all of the rust and chipping paint.
Rachel picked out the colors for me: Interior will be a flat galvanized grey, and the exterior will be a hammered bronze.
Interior is ready for paint!
Interior is painted, and I have everything taped and ready for paint on the exterior.
Just like new!
5 cubic feet of interior space, and this thing is a beast. Luckily it sits on welded castors that allow it to move from side to side (if you can push it)--otherwise it would still be in my yard...
I plan on making two shelves for the interior, when it stops raining and I can drag my saw outside. It's turned out pretty good so far! Even if we don't keep it, it was a fun and quick project. After all, it's not every day you can buy a $2000 safe for $250...
